Romans 1:16-17

For I am not ashamed of the gospel: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is revealed a righteousness of God from faith unto faith: as it is written, But the righteous shall live by faith.

The letter to the Romans may be aptly outlined using these two verses:

For I am not ashamed of the gospel: for (1) it is the power of God unto salvation
(2) to every one that believeth; [(3) Questions Answered]
(4) to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is revealed a righteousness
of God from faith unto faith: as it is written, But (5) the righteous shall live by faith.

Read the book of Romans. Then, using these five points as the headings for your outline, identify what chapters would be covered under each heading:

  1. The Gospel is God's power unto salvation (hint: in contrast to man's following his own course, and in contrast to man relying on his own law keeping, man needs God's power unto salvation)    Chapters: ____________

  2. to everyone that believeth    Chapters: ____________

  3. [Questions Answered]    Chapters: ____________

  4. to the Jew first, and also to the Greek    Chapters: ____________

  5. the righteous shall live by faith   Chapters: ____________

The material we will be using for a quick overview of Romans will be distributed Wednesday evening (12/11/02)
